Snow dog

Zeus couldn't contain his excitement today when I picked up his lead - he had seen the snow outside and couldn't wait to get out and play!

At this point, I noticed that there was blood in the snow so called Zeus close to check his paws. In his excitement, he had torn two of his claws quite badly. Luckily the cold snow helped to contain the bleeding so we carried on with our walk.

We headed back along the canal towards home.

Zeus's torn claw had stopped bleeding at this point, thankfully.

But, when we got home, things changed... once Zeus's paws warmed up the bleeding started again and Zeus complained that he was hurting. There was no way we could get to the vets, the roads were far too dangerous to drive on, but we had to stop the bleeding somehow.

I phoned Zeus's Auntie Fran for help before setting off to her house to get some magic powder to stop Zeus bleeding. Normally this would have been a twenty minute walk, but in the bad snow it took us over an hour. At least the cold snow kept the bleeding to a minimum.

As soon as we got to Fran's house, Zeus put his torn claws in the magic powder and straight away the bleeding stopped.

We had already walked for nearly two hours, but after a short rest and some snow games in the garden -

it was time for us to go for a walk in the snow together.

Zeus and Barkley played chase together.

I tried to find the path... it was there somewhere!

Zeus was his usual handsome self.

And we found more dogs for ours to play with.

We did so much walking! Zeus has been in bed since we got home and I ache all over, but it has been a good day so far.

Goodbye Zeus
